The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has appointed Waterhouse Consulting Group to advertise and promote the role of Adjudicator.
The SRA regulates solicitors and solicitors’ firms in England and Wales. Its customers are the public and those that it regulates.
The majority of adjudicators are members of the public who, operating on a part-time basis, sit in panels of three and adjudicate on cases that are brought before them. Each panel session lasts for three days, and each adjudicator can expect to be required to attend six to twelve sessions per year.
Just over half of the current adjudicators have legal qualifications, with the remainder being laypersons with an interest in public life who are committed to maintaining professional integrity and upholding standards for the good of the public.
Adjudicators are appointed for a fixed term (three years). With a number of adjudicators reaching the end of their term in the latter part of 2009, the SRA is looking to appoint a further five qualified and experienced individuals.
